In August 2008 the News and Observer http://www.newsobserver.com/news/local_state/story/51241.html# reported that Councilman Woodard, my opponent in this race, and Mayor Bell traveled to Japan and Tanzania, respectively, at a cost of over $13,000.00 to Durham taxpayers.
I've Asked Councilman Woodard for a Response to this Issue on My Facebook Page
Thank you for visiting the Official Website of The Committee to Elect Allan Polak to Durham City Council. Over the course of the Durham City Council race I will be posting information here regarding my platform, City Council issues, and any upcoming forum participation.
I believe my hands on experience as a business owner in addition to my educational and career experiences which range from dealing with bureaucrats in Beijing to working with members of the Senate and Congress and Pentagon staff on Middle East related issues uniquely qualify me for a seat on the City Council. Further, as a person raising a family in Durham I have a great stake in this city's schools and crime rate, amongst many other issues.
Thank you for visiting my website. I am very interested in learning about your issues and needs concerning the city of Durham. Feel free to contact me by email or by phone with any issues you would like to discuss. I look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail. For a quick synopsis of my stance on a number of Durham issues, please see my candidate questionnaire on the Independent Weekly's website.
Best regards,
Allan Polak - Candidate for City Council, Ward III
